Cynthia began her career by modeling in New York. A five-year contract was signed with Wihelmina Models. She then became the face of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's Essence cover, which was the most-sold in magazine history was also Susan Taylor's favorite. Cynthia's second cover was booked shortly after, setting the foundation for a long-lasting career. Then, she went into Paris and Milan. There, she made an appearance on runways during Paris Fashion Week as well as Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia spent almost a whole year living abroad. Once she came back to the United States, her fame exploded. Cynthia was commissioned to do campaigns for Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's.
