Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY; born 17 March 1998), known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian musician as a singer, songwriter, as well as a record producer. Her first album has been described as going into "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. [4] She's also taken influences from electronic music, hip-hop and rock. A lot of her songs touch upon science fiction themes and feminist themes. Five studio albums were published by the singer. Grimes was raised in Vancouver but later relocated to Montreal. She started her solo career in the late early 2000s. In 2010, she dropped two albums via Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. The album was released in 2012 and Visions is her 3rd studio release. The band was signed to 4AD. Visions includes the singles "Genesis" and "Oblivion", and was awarded an award called the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. Her fourth studio album Art Angels was released in 2015. It received high praise by critics and a variety of publications voted it the best album. In 2020, she dropped Miss Anthropocene (her fifth studio album). Grimes is an official judge of Alter Ego, a music contest. Grimes was also a participant in the Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
